Area Director of Finance

Description

The Area Director of Finance is responsible for monitoring all accounts, general ledger reconciliations and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. This position will support multiple hotels in the South Carolina region and report to the General Manager and Vice President of Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording
  • Maintain chart of accounts.
  • Perform and oversee monthly close process. Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare/Review general ledger account reconciliations. Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with forecasting, Cash Flow Preparation and annual budgeting.
  • Support or lead finance projects, including system enhancements or implementations. Financial and cash flow reporting.
  • Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and evaluating scope of work and specifications.
  • Manage hotels' compliance of all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes.
  • Hire, train, supervise and develop staff, including coaching, counseling and discipline.
  • Monitor hotels’ compliance in meeting required report deadlines and due dates and react accordingly.
  • Review Payroll.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience required.
  • Experience in hospitality industry preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by office environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day. Walking and standing are occasionally required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, multi-line touch-tone phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, scanners, photocopiers, dolly, and other office equipment as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Controller or Director of Finance/Accounting in the hotel or resort industry
