Overview

A team-minded and solution-orientated leader with expert communication skills who will provide support to the Housekeeping team. A detail-oriented professional who aims to constantly improve guest and employee experience and exceed operational and financial goals.

We are prioritizing speaking with candidates who have:

  • 1-3 years’ management experience in hotel housekeeping. Luxury properties preferred.
  • Experience with the NY Local 6 Union.
  • A thorough understanding of Forbes Travel Guide and their standards.

    Responsibilities

    People Responsibilities

  • Encourages a team-minded culture. Serves as a role model demonstrating appropriate behaviors and expectations.
  • Conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain company polices and operating procedures, OSHA standards, guest satisfaction (including Forbes standards), and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Coaches and provides feedback to housekeeping team. Encourages a growth-mindset for all colleagues.
  • Creation of weekly schedule for housekeeping team. Manages payroll processes for housekeeping team.

    Operating Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards and procedures for housekeeping staff and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of OSHA standards. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct. Makes recommendations to improve service / efficiency.
  • Inspect guest rooms, corridors, elevators, foyers, the laundry room, restrooms, and all public areas.
  • Inspect vacant rooms, verifying status and update team of discrepant rooms throughout shift.
  • Examines building to determine need for repairs/replacements of furniture, equipment, and décor. Make recommendations to upper management.
  • Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment. Takes corrective action.
  • Records data, including work assignments, personnel actions, time cards, and periodic reports.
  • Manage housekeeping inventory – purchase, re-order, and maintain supplies.
  • Attends staff meetings – representing the guest and employee voice.

    Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership experience.
  • Approaches all encounters with guests and colleagues in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Proactive approach to problem resolution, including: anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as needed. Contribute to short term and long-term problem solving.
  • Establishes close working relationships with other departments to ensure cohesive operation.
  • Multitasks and prioritizes department functions to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Email).

    Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ management experience in hotel housekeeping. Luxury properties preferred.
  • Experience with the NY Local 6 Union.
  • A thorough understanding of Forbes Travel Guide and their standards.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently: bend, stoop, kneel, and stand through shift.
  • Schedule flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel needs. Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive guest and colleague information.

    Salary 70,000
