Position Overview

The Hamilton Hotel is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Event Sales to lead and manage all aspects of our catering sales operations. This role is responsible for generating banquet and catering revenue through proactive sales efforts, strategic account management, and strong leadership of the catering sales team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, a strong sales acumen, and the ability to create unforgettable event experiences for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve catering revenue goals.
  • Lead the catering sales team, providing training, motivation, and performance management.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Actively solicit new business through direct sales calls, networking, and participation in trade shows and industry events.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of events, ensuring alignment with client expectations and hotel standards.
  • Collaborate with culinary and banquet departments to ensure seamless delivery of service.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust strategies and stay competitive.
  • Prepare and manage catering forecasts, budgets, and monthly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all brand standards, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in catering sales, preferably in a hotel or luxury venue.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency in catering sales systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera, or similar CRM tools).
  • Knowledge of food & beverage operations and event planning.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
