Hyatt Centric is seeking an experienced Food & Beverage Supervisor who will assist the Food & Beverage Manager with directing the daily operations of the FOH restaurant. Managing the floor during hours of operation to ensure that all restaurant standards and steps of service are met through every guest interaction.
Position Overview:
The Food & Beverage Supervisor will report to the Food & Beverage Manager and will be asked to perform a variety of managerial functions. This starts with providing our guests with consistently high-quality dining experience. To do this, you will need to motivate your team and demonstrate superior customer service skills and help our team meet its standards for quality and profitability. This will involve ensuring that all food, health and safety requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the hiring and training of new employees as well as the continuous training of existing staff.
- Oversee front of house operations, including wait staff, bartenders, hosts and bussing staff.
- Maintain high-quality food standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service and lead staff to do the same.
- Respond to customer complaints quickly and resolve them effectively.
- Develop strategies for improving our customers’ dining experience.
- Identify methods the restaurant can use to cut waste, decrease costs, and improve profits.
- Manage the work schedules of the restaurant staff.
- Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
- Ability to speak elegantly about food & beverage menu items, wines by the glass, beer and cocktail selections.
- Effectively manage the Restaurant and team members within the policies and guidelines of the company, always aiming for guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear directions to the staff.
- Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
- Food & Beverage Supervisor will assist in planning and setting up special events for Brick & Beam, Wardroom and Banquets. Working with the Sales department to ensure guest satisfaction for special group functions.
Position Requirements:
- Capability of offering a charismatic and friendly style of service tailored to specific guests and their needs, building a rapport with guests to establish future business.
- The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues.
- Learn and retain product knowledge.
- Knowledge of Food & Beverage and Private Dining operational procedures is beneficial.
- Banquets background a plus.
- Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the department preferred.
- Possess a proven track record of effectively and empathetically training, mentoring, and managing hourly employees.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ Years of High-end Hotel Restaurant Management experience preferred.
- RBS and SERV Safe Food Handler Certification required.
- Demonstrate natural leadership qualities with a positive, team-focused attitude.
- Understanding of restaurant operations; food and beverage knowledge, steps of service, and cash management as it pertains to the selling of food and beverages.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Wage rate: $35.50 per hr.
