Payroll Specialist

Compensation: $70,000 to $75,000 per year

Position Overview:

The Payroll Specialist performs duties necessary for the accurate calculation of wages, maintenance of records and distribution of payroll reports and withheld monies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in the area of payroll processing.
  • Reviews, analyzes and verifies payroll reports and documents for accuracy.
  • Analyzes and responds to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Reviews a variety of local, state and federal, quarterly and year end filings; making any necessary quarterly corrections or adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with HR, HRIS Analyst and Payroll Accountant for any data, data integration or tax issues.
  • Initiates payroll processing quality assurance reviews, identifies training issues and/or problem prone processes to ensure optimal efficiency and error-free operations.
  • Ensures the timely process of payrolls according to weekly and biweekly payroll schedules, along with submittal of payroll funding requests.
  • Perform special projects or duties as assigned by department leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing experience in a Shared Service environment, OR any equivalent combination of experience and or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation and guidelines including, but not limited to writs of garnishment, child support, levies, non-resident employees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Payroll and Time and Labor applications, preferably UKG.
  • Proficiency in Excel required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to learn new systems and custom technology solutions.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 annually.
