JOB SUMMARY:

  • Greet, direct, seat, and take food and beverage orders. Serve guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Adhere to all beverage pour and recipe standards.
  • Communicate inventory needs to appropriate manager.
  • Be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails offered.
  • Conscious wine knowledge with ability to make pairing suggestions.
  • Use the suggestive selling methods. Must continuously strive for revenue growth.
  • Understand and communicate daily specials and specialty menus to guests.
  • Understand and practice safe serving practices as they relate to alcohol service, such as recognizing intoxication and refusing service to a guest. Consult with Restaurant Manager when support is needed.
  • Be perceptive, proactive, and engaging. Anticipate your guest’s needs. Personalize the guest experience when possible; remember your guest and their requests
  • Complete pre-shift preparation such as preparing and stocking garnishes, pre-mix, and ice. Create syrups and in-house infusions.
  • Complete side work and closing tasks as required such as cleaning, sanitation of ice bins, and restocking for next shift.
  • Operate efficiently and calmly throughout peak service times and high stress situations. Seek assistance from leadership when needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Properly open and close beer taps.
  • Polish glassware, record any breakage.
  • Maintain bathroom spaces during shift.
  • Remove trash. Restock service stations and service bar areas.
  • Make coffee, tea, and espressos.
  • Prepare and present final bill to guest for payment. Obtain settlement and process using the POS system with adjusted tip if noted.
  • Reconciliate cash, accurately charge credit cards, and make appropriate cash deposits at end of shift.
  • Check out with manager once shift is complete.
  • Practice cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
  • Professionally handle guest complaints, solve problems, apologize/emphasize during guest complaints, follow up. Communicate any elevated complaints that could not be resolved to Food & Beverage management.
  • Assist team members as needed to promote a positive teamwork environment.
  • Practice conscious knowledge of food allergies and safety. Communicate allergy concerns to guests.
  • Escalate associate concerns to Restaurant Manager.
  • Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration.
  • Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to lift items overhead. Ability to bend and reach frequently and repetitively during a shift.
  • Ability to remain in a standing or walking position for 90% of shift, given moderate rest breaks.
  • Ability to move up and down stairs
  • Ability to move quickly based on guest needs
  • Ability to regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity, such as typing, polishing, using hand tools, and fixing small items
  • Ability to bend, stretch, and reach frequently, including above head, and repetitively during a shift
  • Ability to bend and kneel
  • Ability to visibly survey property areas clearly
  • Ability to view a digital computer/tablet screen
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information effectively, often in a public/group setting
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory background check
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks, operate equipment, and complete job duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs including midweek and weekend days

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work will primarily take place in a hotel resort and restaurant environment, in both guest-facing and employee back of house areas.
  • Some seasonal exterior work with exposure to extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Group and solo work.
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals, to be used only as instructed.
