Staff Accountant

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting and financial operations for The Hamilton Hotel DC. This shared role is responsible for accounts receivable activities, revenue and cash controls, credit card reconciliations, and month-end close support. The position works closely with hotel operations, sales, and finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with brand and ownership standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts receivable billing, including direct bill, group, and miscellaneous charges
  • Assist with Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) related billing and reconciliation items
  • Monitor and resolve chargebacks
  • Perform daily on-site credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare daily cash and check deposits for Brinks armored transport
  • Review Night Audit shift reports for accuracy
  • Manage House Accounts in Opera including month-end checkout and reactivation
  • Prepare journal entries related to House Account activity
  • Monitor group commissions and obtain DOSM approvals
  • Assist with month-end close and audits

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience; hospitality experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Opera PMS and Hilton systems a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
