The Maintenance Engineer performs routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the smooth operation of resort equipment and facilities. Duties include work on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, kitchen and laundry systems, and general carpentry. This role supports guest satisfaction by addressing issues promptly and following safety and operational standards.

Job Summary

Isla Bella Beach Resort, a luxury oceanfront resort in the Florida Keys, is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Engineer to support daily property operations.

This role is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs across the resort, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining a safe, functional, and well-presented environment for guests and team members.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs across the resort, including guest rooms, public areas, and equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen, and laundry equipment
• Inspect equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and prevent issues
• Replace filters, belts, lightbulbs, switches, and other components as needed
• Repair plumbing fixtures, including clearing drains and replacing washers and seals
• Perform basic carpentry, painting, and wall repairs (drywall, wood, concrete, etc.)
• Maintain and repair doors, locks, shelving, and other structural elements
• Assist with minor repairs to pool equipment and facilities
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Respond to guest and team member maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
• Follow all safety, fire, and security procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and properly care for tools and equipment

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1+ year of general maintenance or engineering experience required
• Previous experience in a hotel or resort environment preferred
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
